Exceptional leaders like Sassy inspire, build trust, and create positive change. As an advocate in the blindness and disability communities, Sassy exemplified courageous leadership. She combated ableism and fostered disability inclusion, equity, and access. Her compassionate, empowering, and indomitable spirit moved everyone who was lucky enough to know her. We have lost a dear friend and colleague, and we share our deepest condolences with her family and friends, as well as our participants, partners, and staff. As MABVI’s Deputy Director Cynthia Canham said, “Sassy loved MABVI so much and fought to stay here as long as she could. She would be so proud of where we are today. We will strive to keep her dream going.”

To honor Sassy’s life and impact, MABVI has established the Sassy Outwater-Wright Legacy Fund, which will increase access to MABVI’s services and foster innovation. To donate to this fund, please do so below.

To learn about other ways to contribute to the fund, please contact Laura Alpert, MAB Community Services’ Chief Advancement Officer at lalpert@mabcommunity.org.
