Ways to Give

Piece of paper on a desk with the words Donate, Charity, help volunteer

There are many ways you can support the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Every donation you make makes a difference in the lives of people who are blind and visually impaired. Please consider any of the following ways that you can support us. Thank you!

Give Monthly

MAB’s Monthly Sustainer Circle is a group of donors just like you who are dedicated to supporting our community.

Join MAB’s Monthly Sustainer.  It’s convenient, fits any budget, and maximizes the impact of your donation. Our generous Monthly Sustainer Circle provides MAB with steady, reliable support to help us continue to deliver independence, community, and confident living whenever and wherever the need is greatest. Recurring monthly donations are an excellent way to give to fit your budget. A donation of $10, $15, or $25 a month will go a long way to help sustain MABVI’s ongoing efforts to eliminate barriers and create opportunities for individuals who are blind and visually impaired. Investments

Gifts of appreciated stock

If you wish to donate stocks or bonds electronically, please provide your financial institution with the following information. You may also call our Development office at 617-879-0596 or advancement@mabcommunity.org

Bequests

Bequests are used to support special initiatives and to build our endowment. Bequests make it possible for MABVI to invest in new programs, create innovative solutions to emerging problems, and sustain current services.

Thank you for supporting our mission and our future.

To make a bequest to MAB Community Services, please include the following language in your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to MAB Community Services the sum of _____________ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate).

There are three ways to make a bequest:

  1. Specific Bequest: You designate a specific dollar amount, specific percentage, or specific property to MAB Community Services.
  2. Residual Bequest: Your estate will pay all debts, taxes, expenses, and specific bequests. The remaining amount — the residual — will be transferred to MAB Community Serivces.
  3. Contingent Bequest: You can ask that MAB Community Services receive all or a portion of your estate only under certain circumstances. For example, you can name MAB Community Services as a beneficiary of your estate only if there are no surviving close family members. Childless couples sometimes provide for the entire estate to go to the surviving spouse, or if the spouse does not survive, to MAB Community Services.

Please consult with your own tax, legal, or financial planning advisor for more information.

Planned Giving

There are many options for planned giving. Often, a donor makes a major gift to a charity under an arrangement that not only provides a tax deduction but also a continuing source of income for the donor. At the end of the donor’s life, the charity receives the remainder of the gift.

Your financial advisor can provide you with advice and detailed information about these instruments. If you would like to discuss a planned giving opportunity with MAB, please contact our Development Office at 617-972-9100 or advancement@mabcommunity.org

Thank you for considering MAB as you plan for the future.
